Faculty

The Spring Knolls faculty is composed of exceptional teachers who generate excitement, provide warmth and humor in the classroom, and translate the school's educational philosophy in creative ways.

Our Director, Cynthia Brasseux, has 10 years of experience teaching preschool in Montgomery County.  She has a BS in Microbiology, an MA in Health Education and Maryland Early Childhood certification.  Prior to teaching, Cynthia worked extensively in pediatric clinical research.  She brings to Spring Knolls her belief that childhood is a time of curiosity, creativity, joy and wonder and that play-based education fosters the growth of the whole child.

Our Pre-K teacher is Mandy Joholske.  Mandy has more than 10 years of experience teaching preschool, first, and second graders in Fairfax and Montgomery Counties. Mandy has a BA in Elementary Education, and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction. Returning to Spring Knolls as an experienced  teacher she brings the classroom to life with silly songs and stories, imaginative art projects, and engaging circle time.

Our 3s teacher is Rafael Tovar. Originally from Venezuela, "Mr. Rafael" has more than 15 years of experience teaching young children. He directed a kindergarten serving 200 children in El Salvador. In the classroom, Rafael's hands-on approach to language studies, music, art and cooking enables children to learn about themselves, others, their surroundings, and various cultures.

Our 2s teacher is Lourdes Caballeros-Abramson.  Lourdes has nine years of teaching experience in elementary, ESOL, dual language, and early childhood education in New York City Public Schools and in Montgomery County. She holds a BA in Spanish and an MS in Elementary Education. Lourdes has taught diverse groups of students in a wide variety of settings, and strives to create a classroom environment that encourages children's natural inclinations to create and explore.
